I’ve been through therapy many times before, what should I expect?
First, I will congratulate you for your tenacity in seeking the answers you need, then you and I will establish a supportive and non-judgmental relationship so that we can address why you haven’t found the answers you’re seeking.
How long is a therapy session?
An individual therapy session is 50 minutes and a couples therapy session is typically 60 to 80 minutes in length.
How much does it cost?
My regular fee is $150. Also, I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available to clients in financial need. Please inquire. Additionally I also accept insurance from multiple providers including Aetna, Beacon, Blue Shield, Cigna, and Magellan.
How long will I be in therapy?
The length and recurrence of treatment are something we decide together, ensuring it addresses your concerns and fits your timetable. I suggest meeting once a week, in the beginning, to get clear on your current situation and needs. The therapy, as a rule, terminates when we both agree that you have met your objectives or that this type of help is no longer having an impact. Depending on the circumstances, therapy lasts anywhere from a few months to a year or longer.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, I ask that you give 48 hours advanced notice. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full session.
Is it confidential?
Information disclosed by patients is always held as confidential except for disclosure required or permitted by law. Legal and ethical responsibilities require that our therapy sessions remain private. Therefore, no information will be released to another person without your written consent. Exceptions will be made only if you present/cause a danger to yourself or someone else, in the case of child abuse or elder abuse, and some medical emergencies.
